Sacred
Activism

Sacred Activism is a transforming force born of a fusion of love and wise action in the world. It is using one’s gifts to make the world a better place. In a nut- shell it is love and compassion in action. As an artist and author I am always looking for ways to do this, that embraces both art and authorship in new and beneficial ways.

Beautyify
Beautyify is currently a collaborative artist project where original and printed pieces of art are placed in various environments by donation from various artists to hospitals, women’s centers, nonprofit centers, etc. Some of the paintings are created in a collaborative process as well. We can also provide artworks for art auctions, especially for causes benefitting children. If you are interested in donating to this project you can do so through Patreon. If you are interested in making a donation of artworks or in receiving artworks/prints for your center or auction, please contact us at: motheringthedivinewisdom.com.

Women’s Prison Literacy Project
Women’s Prison Literacy Project is currently operating under shanwattersstudio.com as a way to bring books I have authored to women in prison. Working with three organizations to provide Mothering the Divine: Birthing, Nurturing and Celebration Your Divine Self, and Earthstaria: The Mystical Land of the Kindred to women’s prison libraries is happening right now! We are happy to announce that these works are finding their way to women’s prison libraries all over the U. S. at present. We work with the following organizations to make this possible: ~The Claremont Forum Bookshop & Gallery/ Prison Library Project/created by Ram Dass it is located in Claremont, California. ~Women’s Prison Book Project or WPBP is located in Minneapolis, MN. ~Prisoner’s Literature Project/ Bound Together Books in San Francisco, Calif.

The Art of Peace
The Art of Peace is an art and peacekeeping curriculum I created for schools, families and community outreach. It utilizes a 40-foot painted portable canvas labyrinth as a centering meditational focal point. After the presentation of the curriculum, children walk the labyrinth and at the conclusion are asked to focus on peace and create an artwork that pictures peace and their own peace wishes. The artworks are then displayed throughout the school or community.
The Art of Peace Curriculum
The Art of Peace Curriculum has been presented in workshops and classes given at juvenile detention facilities, schools, healing centers and meditation retreats throughout California and Hawaii.
Shi-tro Mandala For Universal Peace Project
Shi-tro Mandala For Universal Peace Project was envisioned by Lama Chodak Gyatso, under the auspices of H. E Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche. I served this five year project as the Project Coordinator. This project supported master Tibetan artists as they created the first 3-dimensional traditional Tibetan Mandala in the United States. As a traditional mandala it is built in the ancient Tibetan Buddhist style, accompanied by rituals and meditation practices. This mandala is dedicated to universal peace with the aspiration of Thongdrol, or “liberation upon sight”, for all those who view it. It is currently housed at the Ari Bhod Retreat Center in Tehachapi, California.

Ideas for your own
sacred activisim

Earth Healing Shrines: in your own home you can place a simple, or elaborate shrine dedicated to healing the Earth. They are a lovely way to offer prayers to honor and heal the Earth.

Stupas: are sacred sculptures in the Tibetan tradition. A stupa is one of the most venerable icons in Buddhism. It’s a structure steeped in symbolism, and building or maintaining one is said to bring a person close to enlightenment.

Prayer Flag Offerings: Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all-pervading space.
